September Recap - Art, Coffee, Robots

THE BIG PICTURE

September has been a particularly difficult time for coffee prices in New York. Amid the recently introduced tariffs and a few dry weeks in Brazil, coffee prices in New York went up to an all-time high this month.

According to Reuters , prices for Arabica coffee futures traded in the International Exchange in New York approached a session high of $4.24 per round. To add to the injury, coffee, among other items, is directly responsible for keeping food prices consistently high, too.

Apparently, Brazil would typically supply a third of all the coffee used in the U.S., but the tariffs led to a significant decline in shipments. The exceptionally dry weather in Brazil made matters worse by limiting the stimulation of the coffee's flowering phase.

To discuss reparative measures, the Federal Reserve held multiple meetings this month to decide a potential rate cut, based on their analysis of inflation data, among other factors.

On a happier note, it was National Coffee Day on September 29th. A number of brands and chains across the U.S.participated in the event by offering discounts and freebies.

COFFEE TIP BY JOE

Citrus, spice, and everything nice

These were the ingredients chosen

To create the perfect... cup of coffee

I really hope you get the above The Powerpuff Girls reference.

As strange as this may sound, adding around two to three teaspoons of citrus concentrate to your coffee takes its bitterness down a notch, adds a refreshing, tangy punch, and brings out its natural acidity, making for excellent cups of cold-brew and hot coffee.

Similarly, sprinkling a pinch of cinnamon, cardamom, or nutmeg on top of your coffee adds warmth and a layer of complexity to it. You can also mix spices into the coffee grounds before brewing. This method adds earthy, sweet, and nutty notes, offering a healthier alternative to sugary syrups.
